I love the conservative looks of the Gt Mustang without the hype. I wish Ford could offered one with the supercharger as an opition. Anyone else up for that.

Back in the day there used to be four and sometimes five options for engine choices from the dealer, they should get back to that IMO.

At the point that it is cost effective for them to do it rather than farming it out, they will do it...
The Whipple effort is an intriguing hint at what is going on in that arena.
I would further hazzard that we are the victims of "bundling" - much like you can't get the "killer feature" on your latest Dell/HP computer without buying all the other stuff _most_ of the people wanting to put an extra 5K into their car tend to be the people that want to go MUCH further...
So, I suspect we will see "mach" and "cobra" models that will offer this LONG before it becomes a typical check-box option...
Short version - I don't think they need to be told - money talks - today's most popular aftermarket mods becomes tomorrow's options...

"back in the day"TM engines were basically hand assembled out of bins of parts which were hand sorted so that you could mix and match the "heavy" pistons with the "light" rods to make it all basically work out right...
The side effect of this is that the only difference to ford was which set of bins you you pulled from...
The modular engine represents the extreme of departure from this method in that now we have many disparate lines of cars all using the same blocks and heads (even cams)...
I would not expect to see this revert... the economy of scale of building your entire line of cars with three sizes of bolt is a powerful motivator...

One of the most accurate observations I have seen in a long while.
