Zex Nitrious Kit
Looking for solid facts on the following.
http://www.brenspeed.com/tech/2005gtzex.html
1. Not looking to have the constant power that a superchanger would give, just need a little extra boost at times.
2. Are these good setups for our vehicles in reference to long gevity of the engine. I plan on keeping her for awhile.
If this has already been discussed, please point me to the location.
Thanks

Hey man, I cut some thoughts from another thread for you. They only reason I did not buy this kit from Brenspeed and get them to install is because of the distance I had to travel to get them to install. (9hrs one way) A trip I had planned in the shops area got cancelled so I had no reason to be near them, otherwise I would have the ZEX right now. They are the only place I would let do the install and thats the other reason I have not let anyone else do it. Old post below.
Good luck. I will still get N20 one day when I figure out how to get closer to Brenspeed or finally find another tuner I trust with my baby.
I'm thinking about adding no2 sytem either a 75 or 100 shot. Will the stock plugs hold up under a 100 shot or will I have to get a colder plug. What tune are you using, I heard if you use the 87 stock tune with 93 oct. fuel you will be okay, with the 75 shot. Any info would be appreicated on the subject.
HT0s will help prevent detonation, as long as you are running a safe conservative tune then you should be fine on the HT1s. On an 87 octane tune you should be fine as the timing can't be very aggresive as long as you run 93.
You may need to close up the gap some to prevent spark blowout, PMP Parts has the cheapest spark plug gapper that I know of, you just need to send them an email.
I ran a 100hp shot on my stock HT1 plugs last week on a N/A 91 octane tune from Evolution. I made no changes to the tune, but I would not necessarily reccomend this method to anyone else. I feel that my car was kinda on the edge of blowing a head gasket, melting a plug, having a nitrous backfire, or something of the sort. The colder plugs will help when on the bottle, but definatley hurt you when you are N/A. They are too cold for most of the N/A tunes out there. Just some friendly advice....Check with your tuner before you take the plunge, and make sure they can get you a safe tune for it, or go get a dyno tune and be on the safe side.
Nitrous is a cheap way for some of us to go faster. I'm sorry but I cannot afford a supercharger or a turbo for my car yet. So nitrous is the only way for me to make similar power for a lot less money. The beauty of nitrous is I have had the same bottle in a bag (compucar) kit installed on 5 cars so far. I actually bought a zex kit for this new car but I still use the compucar bottle for an extra. Let me know which supercharger or turbo kit is interchangable from a 5.0, to a 4.6, to a lightning and I will start saving for it. It's not cheating it just introduces more air in to the combustion chamber in a different manner, Chemically, not mechanically. Just my .02
As was mentioned before superchargers reduces mpg, due to parasitic loss, just like the water pump, alternator, power steering, and any other device driven by the motor with a belt. When your are not using the supercharger, as evident by 0 boost you are not reducing your mpg.
When you do get into the boost of a supercharger you are NOT using any more fuel then you might with N20. A supercharger and N20 both do the same thing, generally speaking, in that they pack more oxygen into the cylinder allow you to use more fuel. More fuel and oxygen per combustion cycle equals MORE horsepower as well as LESS mpg.
I would say a supercharger is safer to use and much easier on the internals then N20. If you’re using a standard N20 system it is usually a big jolt to the internals when it’s first sprayed and generally you will see a very lean condition for milliseconds when first energized, also known as lean out condition.
If you want to be safe with N20 ALWAYS go with a wet system and look into some of the “progressive†systems on the market. A progressive system progressively feeds the N20 rather then one big dump of N20. That equals more usable power and greatly helps maintain the internals as well as eliminate any possible lean condition on first activation of N20.
True professional tuners will REQUIRE you to tune on their dyno prior to selling you a program. Any tuner that is willing to sale a N20 program foregoing the dyno is NOT professional because they DO NOT care about your vehicle. Every vehicle is different and no two vehicles will ever react the same to a program. Since “lean out†is VERY REAL for an N20 application AND the A/F ratio is EXTREAMLY important during an N20 application you can ONLY tune for those conditions and know you’re safe by using a dyno.
N20, superchargers, turbo’s and any other power adder is NOT cheating regardless if you tell the other guy you have it or not. Once you modify a vehicle you can NOT claim that vehicle can beat another vehicle by brand. For example if you modify a Mustang and it beats a stock or modified Camaro you can’t claim that a Mustang can beat a Camaro but rather YOUR Mustang beat the other specific Camaro. Once you modify the game is over because MORE money will always win regardless what you’re modifying. If you have enough money you can modify a KIA to kick the crap out of the Shelby modified or not.
N20 is an excellent power adder with the right precautions to make it safe
