Default Quick Question

Hey I hope someone can help me out here. I have a friend of mine that owns an auto 6 banger and he is about ready to trade his car off because he is having a fight with his car everyday. He cannot get his keys out of the ignition after a drive. He has to jerk the steering wheel back and forth and put the shifter in and out of gear several times to get the keys to free up and be able to remove them from the ignition. Has anyone else ever experienced this? He seems to think that his aftermarket wheels and tires have something to do with it, but I have tried to beat it in his head that this is not his problem, and it's something else......like the shifter not going all the way in (P) Park or the sensor on the Park pin isn't working or something dumb like that. Any ideas? Thanks in advance......

Try wiggling the ignition key instead of just trying to pull it out.

Seriously I just wanted to know if any of the AUTO's on here had this problem or have experienced it before. I already searched threads and the TSB's on this site and others. Yes his car is either an 05 or 06, but it only has like 3000 miles on it so it's practically a new convertible V6 auto. He almost never drives it, but when he does he's having this problem. I know it's not the wheels and tires, but he is an older guy and has read the entire owner's manual, and has since changed back to his stock ones and seems to think that it's not as bad now. I told him that was purely coincidental. C'mon with the spoiler & sparkplug comments. I'm not an idiot I'm asking for someone else that doesn't use the internet at all. He's just aggravated with it now, and asked me to help and what I thought.

Doesn't sound too serious, and it's definitely something still under warranty. He just needs to take it in. Sounds like something simple, like a loose tumbler in the ignition lock.

I wasn't sure if it was that or something that the computer was just reading wrong.....I'm going to take my SCT over to see if is throwing a code tomorrow.

You're probably not going to get a code. Those are usually just for engine or computer problems. His problem is probably something to do with the actual ignition lock or the car not going into park fully.

This is not even worth a post methinks... easy answer for a new unmodded car, TAKE IT TO THE DEALER! This is very very obviously some sort of mechanical fault and it is Ford's responsibility. The only way I can see it being the aftermarket wheels is if they are sitting in the drivers seat too.

Thanks I posted it on the V6 forum too and got some good answers. I know he can take it to the dealer, but he was aggravated and I thought I would be a friend to him and ask on here if anyone else had experienced it. Thanks so much for the serious answers and especially for some of the sarcasm. I'm sorry I posted it.
