Default Anyone Heard of AFE?

Hi there everyone Newbie here,......i was wondering if anyone knew anything about AFE (advanced flow engineering) intake systems ? I'm looking for a good air intake but i cant decide between K&N or AFE. I've never heard of AFE but they claim to give up to 19hp while K&N is only like 13-15hp. Someone help! thanks

The best intake set-up you can get is either the C & L or the JLT II. Of course with either of those you need the SCT Xcal 2 or a different tuner. I have heard of the AFE and I do not believe just bolting it on without a tune could give 19 HP.

I'm not looking to spend that much right now i just want a simple air intake upgrade and when i get deeper into my mods then i'll go for the big dogs C&L or JLTII
But do you think that K&N would be a good simple upgrade for now?

It definitely would be simple, I dont know what kind of gains you would get though. I would just wait to buy a C & L or JLT II if I were you and spend my money elsewhere.

Hi and welcome to the forums. If you are looking for just a bolt-on CAI with no tuner you might check out this thread on the Granatelli:

Granatelli CAI

Hope that helps you and good luck!

Afe makes very nice kits. All of their stuff is top-notch. Be careful putting on an intake with no tuner because your car will run lean unless it has something like the Airaid does that restricts a bit of airflow or the Granantelli which goes at it a different way.
