Thanks jt14894, I think you must be more patient than I am. Thats very good mileage for a performance car like the Mustang. I'm still getting used to the fun of driving it and don't want to drive for economy quite yet. But I was surprised at how good mine was despite my pedal to the metal style of driving. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a careless driver, I'm a defensive driver who opens it up only when its safe to do so. On this particular trip I used 2 lane roads with little traffic and enjoyed it immensely. I'm sure my mileage will improve after the newness wears off.

No problem. Glad to share my input.
Yeah, thats pretty good MPGs.
When I was breaking in my GT, I was barely getting 20 MPG (low 18+), but now its doing great!
I always look forward to a road trip.
My Tennesse trip was very relaxing. The car ran and rode smoothly, I didn't get fatigued at all.
It was just a great drive and a fun trip.
It was all interstate driving so there wasn't much stop and go traffic, except for when I was in Atlanta.
I'm sure you'll get similar kinds of MPG averages on the same highways.
My driving habits change with the ever changing gas prices. When they peaked, I drove conservatively pretty much the whole time. Now that prices have eased, I'm still driving conservatively, but I'm giving it a little more pedal to the metal every now and then.
Hope your next drive will be even more memorable!
Enjoy the ride!

RE: First gas mileage check
300Miles on the ODO coming home going doing 75-80 half the way and 65-70 half the way and got 25.6 while accelerating up and down and keeping the rpms moving most of the time. I also have the 3.31 gears. Third gear pulls past 100 though...

RE: First gas mileage check
I took mine about a week after I got it on vacation back in August. The trip was about 180 miles, up and down mountains, and regular flat highway. On the way home I had gotten slightyly over 26MPG; I was impressed.
