CHEAP LT's!!!

RE: CHEAP LT's!!!
On a car that is driven regularly and in the elements, a header that is not stainless will not even come close to outliving these cars. I have had many headers including ceramic coated hookers and the heat is very hard on mild steel. They will rust from the inside, get thin, get pinholes, then blow out.
Any yes, materials do matter, as some are made of heavier guage metal and will last longer and seal better.
You have to select what is best for you, but they are not made the same, and a cheap set is usually just that.

just go to Summit Racing's site or Hedmann's site. Everyone will have an opinion, but mine is that Hedmann has been around a long time and are as reliable as any. Obviously being painted they arent going to be pretty for too long, but I don't care. As far as materials, any of them are going to outlive our cars, so i'm not concerned with what grade it is, but that's just me.

Bet you don't drive that 73 as often as most of these guys drive their mustangs.
On a car that's driven regularly in weather it makes a difference.
Light weight sealing surfaces don't even have to rust to leak. There's nothing like installing headers and then having to put gaskets on them every few months!
These headers had about 2 years use and burned through at the turn down just out of the exhaust port. Typical.
I had plenty of cheap headers when I was younger!

I still have the same Hooker headers on my 73' Mach 1 that I put on it in 1993. by the time cheap headers rot out you will have much more important things to replace anyway.
