Dyno number in...

RE: Dyno number in...
When someone starts bragging about their dyno numbers, I usually always ask whether it was on a mustang dyno or dyno-jet. If they tell me a mustang dyno, cool...if it is from a dyno-jet, I knew it was inflated...now, thanks to tcoope13, I can do the math and figure out just what that person bragging is really putting down. Thanks tcoope13.
...and Johnnie D, I like true readings too...even if they are less, at least they're accurate

I got them from PMPPARTS.com....they were like $95 shipped i think, I would have gotten them from Brenspeed but he doesnt sell FRPP parts....the install is really pretty simple although i broke the clip on the pcv valve hose to the intake, couldnt figure out how to unclip it [:@]

RE: Dyno number in...
Johnnie D, I have exactly the same engine mods that you show, right down to the Brenspeed tune. But I do have a different exhaust set up. And I have an aluminum driveshaft. I had the Brenspeed tune tweaked on the Dyno which is what it sounds like you are doing. The original tune came in pretty flat on the top end, but there was almost nothing that needed to be done on the bottom end. I ended up (on a Dynojet) with 342hp. But I was showing 320hp before tweaking it. I din't notice where you were from but I am at sea level, if you are higher you will see a drop. But...I have to believe that Dynojet numbers are a best guess. I do not think for a second I should be putting up numbers that high. But it does offer everthing needed to get the tune dialed in for your specific car, even if the HP numbers are inflated.

I sent my information to Brent and he emailed me a new tune on Monday, not going to go back to the dyno just to see if it helped of not, I will wait till I get some more mods...he added some fuel to the tune and said i should be around 13 for my air fuel ratio now. Not sure if I will gain or lose some HP but at least I wont be lean!

RE: Dyno number in...
The way I look at dyno numbers is that the actual number really does not matter all by itself. I use them more to judge my gains. So if you use the same dyno for all you runs as you mod the car it can show you what you are gaining. But to compare the numbers to another dyno even if the same model is never accurate. the margin of error for all dynos is a few % alone. So just using the same dyno your readings are never really showing 100% accurate numbers. Then going to compare readings from 2 diffrent units is increasing that % of error even more.
Not that we need to really worry, since we don't race numbers..

RE: Dyno number in...
Brent charged me $60 for the CMCV delete tune, then i sent him my dyno info and he retuned it for free! I would get the plates if you are thining about it, easy install and cheap...you will notice a small increase in power for sure...no mpg decrease noted
