Default Rear Axle

Why do people make fun of our rear axle, educate me please. When in another forum is was written this.

ME : ":::For the money, not worth it imo. Im driving a 06 Mustang GT with CAI and a 91 Octane Tune and am extremely Satisfied with it for similiar price as the RX.:::"

Him: "You drive an ugly, heavy piece of junk with archaic technology (take a look at your rear axle) and you talk trash about rotary technology? Too funny! "

The solid rear axle is an old design that has been with the Mustang from the beginning. They are comparing it to the independent rear suspensions used on some cars today.

Primitive though they may be, they are strong and well suited to the abuse that a car like the Mustang must endure! (at the hands of people like us)

Let them laugh... And line up next to you!

if you ask me the rear axle is great for a mustang. first off, these cars were never meant to be driven around sharp corners at high speeds. when was the last time any of you heard of a muscle car generating 1g plus on a skidpad anyways? thats not what the point of a mustang is. second, the last time they used an IRS (SN-95 cobra) they had tons of reports of broken differentials and half shafts because an IRS just isnt suited for the FI power levels these cars reach. lastly, an IRS is much more expensive. if S197s had an IRS they would probably cost up to anoth 1k. a mustang is supposed to be the best bang for the buck you can buy. it always has been and it always should be. case closed.

by the way, when was the last time you heard about a rotary making 300hp stock and being able to smoke the tires off the showroom floor?

Depends on what they're talking about, the 8.8 is one of the mose efficient rear ends out there.

+1.... Depends on what they're talkin about....like to see their IRS stand up to the stock power of the mustang....I guarantee you I could blow that thing away in a week...And on the strength note...I run with a bunch of F-body guys mainly around here....and they are always talkin about how great it would be to have an 8.8 or a 9"....but more so the 8.8 because like ya'll said...more efficient..Anyways thats my thoughts...

That guy is just is mad because his car is slow and it cost him more than your mustang. My girlfriend has an RX-8 and it does drive very well and has great handling but it has no power. My GT absolutely destroyes that car in a drag. She it might be able to out handle me but who buys a mustang for the corners?

Uhh...how about we all laugh at the 212hp RENESIS 2-rotor rotary that comes in the RX-8 auto and the "performance" 232hp RENESIS 2-rotor rotary that comes in the six speed.
