what does a supercharger feel like?

RE: what does a supercharger feel like?
Mach - funny you should ask, I just participated with Music City GT today in our Wildhorse's Dyno day. His cammed GT sounds awesome and put down some good numbers too as he talks about in that thread. I put down 460.4 RWHP and 443.3 RWT - not too bad considering I am way too lean and I mean way too lean with some readings well over 13.00 , up to 13.35 - so I hope to improve some with adjustment. 1st I need to talk to Whipple before I change anything and I had left my Diablo at home today so I was stuck with what I had anyway. The dyno operator was thinking I might approach 500 RWHP with a little more fuel - he recommends 10% on the higher band , so we'll see and get another pull.

Actually Mach, the AFR was even higher than I posted here, it was over 15 at times and was reading solid 14"s and high 13's near red line! See the Dyno Day post I started.
Correction - I looked at the AFR chart again and the original figure of a 13.35 high is correct, after shutdown the readings went 14 to 15 - soory about that[:@] Still pretty lean with room for improvement.

Guess a bunch of us are gonna have warpped blocks as 450 at the crank is about 400 RWHP. Oh my god, what have we done[:-], they lied to us, guess I should have gone with the Roushcharger that gives you 400 RWHP with a 36,000 mile warranty. Damn, I didn't think Jack would cut it that close, oh well, there are just too many experts in the world

It wont warp, thats crap. Most people have over 500 crank with no problems. Alot of people are around 500whp without problems. it just depends, i wouldnt go higher than that though.

RE: what does a supercharger feel like?
It really seems the powdered rods are the weakest link, but high RPM (as in excessive rev-limiter turned up) is what I have been told is the biggest mistake guys make with these motors. All I know is I have well over 1000 miles of some hard use on mine , including the Dyno pulls without any problem. I was also told not to exceed 8 LBs of boost on my turbocharged ZX12 kawasaki streetbike cause the crank couldn't take it, that was about 10,000 miles ago and the 50 hp dryshot went on a good 5,000 miles ago giving me a grand total of 350 RWHP, oh that is after I turned the boost up to 15 LBs right after the "experts" said you'll be sorry[:-]
Like I said, there are too many experts out here. Not saying you can't blow one, but thats a chance I'm willing to take. Man, if your scared to play, find a safer & cheaper hobby
