Well, it hadn't tapped since yesterday morning, then when I left to come back to work after lunch, it was tapping again. So now I have no idea. It's going to the dealership (hopefully) today. Wish me luck!

My car did this to me once with less than 2000 miles on it. I had let the car sit for two weeks before. When I first started the engine, it sounded just like a dry lifter, pretty loud in the garage. So loud that I even popped the hood. After about 5 minutes it went away and never came back. I can only assume it was because the car sat for so long.

Awesome 06hoss, thanks a million! I'll be taking a copy of that to the dealership this afternoon when I drop her off.
You're welcome bro! Good luck! If that's it, they'll have her fixed in no time.

I could be wrong Slappy, but it sounds like a collapsed or collapsing lifter.
The 3V 4.6 doesn't have lifters.
