Default Modification plans...

I have put together a parts list I want for the Mustang... what do you guys think?

C&L cold air intake with SCT X-Cal 2 tuner

SLP long tube headers and X pipe

SLP loudmouths

Hurst shifter

3.xx gears

Steeda underdrive pullies

Ignition coil upgrade (unsure on manufacturer, any ideas?)

Steeda strut tower bar F&R

Panhard bar and brace

Upper and lower rear control arms

Tubular front A arms

D Spec shocks with lowering springs

POSSIBLY a 50-80 shot of wet kit nitrous.

That all sounds good for the most part. Not sure about the ignition coils, haven't heard about any gains from that. "Steeda strut tower bar F&R", not sure what you mean by this. If you mean strut tower brace, those are mostly good for looks and aren't in the "F&R", it's only in the front. If you mean sway bars, that's a worthwhile mod. The rear moreso than the front. Also, LCAs are great but UCAs are a PITA to install and won't do as much for you as the LCAs.

One thing I would add to the list is FRPP CMCV deletes. They are cheap and easy to install and free up 10-15rwhp. I got them for $95 with free shipping. Some tuners will do small updates to the tune for free. One I can think of now but I'm not allowed to mention him on the forum for some strange reason. He is excellent though.

What are the charge motion deletes anyways...
I have read about them slightly, and know that they sit in between the head and the intake manfold...

But what are the OEM's designed to do, and what do the aftermarket "delete" ones do?

Because he is not a site sponsor. If he was, say like D'Agostino, then you could post his site...

And do these 100 dollar parts really give you THAT much of a gain? You would have to sacrifice a little low end power or SOMETHING to get that much would you not? Just seems too good to be true.

But since you need a tune to make it work right, I would probably wait to get them when I got my C&L/SCT combo... and just do it all at once.

Of course, it may just be me coming from a import background, where 100 dollar parts won't get you ANYWHERE NEAR 10-15 hp AT THE WHEELS. I am used to 15-350 dollar parts getting no more than 2-4 HP.

No, they have been dyno tested to give you 10-15rwhp, all through the rpm range. The deletes get rid of the butterflies in the intake manifold that reduce airflow at low rpms. The butterflies are supposed to help with low rpm torque but i think it has more to do with fuel economy. I didn't notice any loss of power at low rpms but i did notice big gains in the upper rpm range and improved throttle response. I also noticed my fuel mileage went down a bit but i don't care about that. It's the best bang for the buck mod you can do. And like i said, some tuners will do free tunes for most small mods if you buy the tuner from them.

BTW, some other companies were offering the same thing for hundreds of dollars but the FRPP part does the exact same thing for less.

Do you live in a residential neighborhood and get up early? If so, be cautious with the SLP headers, X pipe, and Loud Mouths. I would recommend just the LMs at first, just to see if those are enough. Otherwise it will be unbelievably loud.

That's a good overall list and some good comments.

The ignition coil upgrade is worthless unless you have a supercharger. Save your money, they will do nothing for you and they are notorious for reliability/tune issues.

I'd suggest that the strut tower bars are pretty much useless, so I'd only buy them if you wanted them for looks.

Also, adding the CMCV delete is a great mod, as is adding a new REAR sway bar. Don't bother with the front.

Remember that you will need a special tune for the CMCV deletes. Buy your SCT from a good shop like Brenspeed, that way you will get set up right.
