Default Changing From Automatic to Standard

I am sick of people ****ting on me because I have a Auto Mustang Gt, and I will admit I miss the fun aspect of the standard, So I called the Ford dealership and asked them how much it would cost to switch from Auto to Standard...and the mechanic there was like "its an impossible job, youdd have to change everything in the car" Then I asked how much and hes like "$15,000" Can someone bring some truth or whatnot to this? Ive heard a couple people switch em in the new ones and they did it for less then that. Thanks for your input in advance guys.

Ya know what I tell people when they give me ****, I tell them to kiss my *** as I proceed to walk them with my sluggish slow shifting automatic...

If you really wanna switch, you need to trade it in on a stick.

15K doesnt sound too far off, im guessing that you would have to change out the harness, buy a new tranny, driveline and put 3.55's in the rear plus the labor from a Ford dealer. You could probably do it for less if you did it yourself or found someone that didnt charge $130 an hour

It's not too hard to switch TO an automatic, but switching to a standard is a whole different can of worms. It is a lot of work because they have to add the clutch pedal, the hydraulics for the clutch, etc.

Like Archion said, if you really want a stick, then sell it and buy a stick instead.

Then again, an auto is not always slower than a stick. In fact, all serious drag racers use automatics becasue they shift faster than a stick, and it's impossible to miss a shift with an automatic.

If I were you, I'd take your Auto, get a tune that firms up your shift points and then get a high-stall torque converter and some 3.73 gears. With that setup you'll beat the vast majority of other cars out there.

Exactly!!

Who gives crap what anyone else says or thinks. Do not let it bother you. And the best way to do it would in fact be to simply trade your car in for one with a stick.
