Rear creaking noise - 2007 GT Conv
I have been trying to solve a mysterious creaking noise coming from the rear driver's side of my 07 GT Conv. Doesn't matter whether the top is up or down.
I've had it to the dealer 3 times, and each time they say it's fixed, the noise comes back after a short while. There was even a Ford field rep out looking at it, and they replaced the "LT RR Lower Control Arm". All was fine for about 40 miles (over the course of 5 days...I don't drive much), then the creaking came back.
Another weird thing about it is that the noise goes away after getting the car washed. Then it comes back 30 mins later, like the water created some kind of lubrication which then dried out.
UPDATE: I decided to spray silicone lube on the bolts inside the body panel in the little side pocket area where the top folds down. I also sprayed all the suspension bushings/joints I could see on the left side. The noise went away. I don't know if it was the suspension or those body panel bolts (why there are bolts instead of welds I have no idea). So my advice to anyone with creaking problem is the spray everything with silicone. Silicone may dry out over time and the noise may come back, but at least you can pinpoint the offending part more easily this way.
