RE: Hurst shifter
I have had a pro 5 0 on every mustang I've owned, so it fits me like a glove. I'll prolly go pro 50 again!
ORIGINAL: doodad
pro 5.0 is way to go.. i have read TON of threads before i bought mine and i have seen many people got rid of their Hurst shifter for pro 5.0. mine is still on the way.. will be here this week i guess and people claim no miss gears anymore.. we will see!!

RE: Hurst shifter...UPDATED PICS
All of you who ordered the Hurst Competition plus billet shifter should start ordering your competition plus shifters.....i just spoke with rep at performance center and they just called Hurst....turns out Hurst was sold to BME and BME is scrapping the Billet line and possibly the comp plus shifters from production.....I guess no more Hurst from what i understand.......anyone have anything to add?? please do

RE: Hurst shifter...UPDATED PICS
I just installed mine over the weekend. Took me longer to get eveything together and get the car jacked up than it did to get 'er done. Maybe a couple hours as I kept going inside to get warm. It's frickin' freezing here.
Toughest/longest part for me was the front bolt. It is fairly long and you may have a hard time seeing it behind the driveshaft. I did it with a 10mm combination wrench and mostly by feel. Remember to switch to the open end as you get close to getting the bolt backed out otherwise you'll get the closed-end stuck.
Could be one of those fancy Craftsman ratcheting box end wrenches would have worked better.
You'll need a deep well 10mm to get the rear two nuts which are attached to fairly long studs. Helpful to have some extensions as well so you can clear the driveshaft when working the ratchet.
You don't need a partner. I got the shifter loose and then pulled out from the top. The reverse on the install, got it started from the top and positioned it from the bottom. Just need a little patience.
As suggested earlier, print out the extra instructions. The pictures helped me a lot in understanding how topull the parts off the stock shifter and put them on the Hurst.
I like the feel/action of the new shifter and the look is awesome. Catching third is a simple as a push forward with the heel of your hand. I would say that the 'notchiness' others have noted is definitely there, especially as compared to the smoothness of the stock piece (which I could shift with my fingers).
