Default 420 CI crate engine??

Ford racing has a 420 cubic inch crate engine advertised at about $8000. I have that kind of dough right now and would stuff that thing in my 06 in a heartbeat if I knew there would not be alot of problems getting it to fit. Rated at 625 hp, I'm dying for any info on what it would take to get that engine into my stang. It is an automatic transmission. Do crate engines come fully assembled or does the $8000 price tag not include other essential parts like the head/cams/valvetrain stuff? What would the total price ultimately be in anyones estimation.? I only have a year to do this if I'm gonna do it. My wife gets back from Iraq in Febuary. When she gets home,, it ain't happenin.

Don't even bother man......with 8 Grand you can throw on a nice little S/C or T/C......I like Kenne Bell and Powerhouse personally, get a little suspension work, and maybe a nice little shorty antenna. But really man, check out your current engine, build from there...or go check out a 5.4L....What do you want outta your ride?

i would have to agree with lak3rs.... dont even go there!
you would be surprised what you can get out of the superchargers or turbochargers with these 4.6 motors and a little bottom end work. i would spend the money on something other than your current spark of interest. just my opinion though.

On top of the 8 grand you would have to pay someone to make the new mounts and stuff, besides I doubt it would even fit, and if it did it would throw your weight off bad.

That engine is an older generation V-8. Nothing on that motor is going to be compatible with what you've got. In addition to the engine itself, you are going to need a fully custom exhaust, motor mounts, intake, and then all the fuel injection system, sensors, and all that stuff will have to be converted. This is going to take a lot of labor--and not just any 'ol mechanic, you will need an expert in this kind of work. I wouldn't be suprised if it cost you an EXTRA $8,000 in labor and parts to get this done...assuming that it fits at all.

I'm going to agree with the other posters here....just get a supercharger for your current setup. You can put down 450 HP at the wheels (That's well over 500 at the crank) easily! If you want more than that, then consider a built motor. It would be a lot cheaper than going with the 420.

That would be a crazy waste of money. Why would you put a pushrod motor in this car which is all computerized to runa mod motor?
You would need custom mounts, custom made headers and a custom made wiring harness and a new engine management system? Your ECM doesn't know what to do with that pushrod motor. The list would be endless.
Unless you are an expert (you are not or wouldnt ask this to begin with) this motor would cost at least 10,000 to install over the cost of the motor. For what power level? It would still be a naturally aspirated motor and you could make tons more power with a supercharged 4.6.
