Torque converters
i'm not sure what you mean but it will absolutely change your car drastically. the aftermarket converters mutiply torque more than stock units do. i guess thats the other benefit to having one but it all goes together with increased stall to help the car launch better and perform better at lower speeds.
it was the third thing i did to my car behind a tune and the driveshaft. then ran 12.90's on stock pirellis in90degree heat.
a few more changes and now i've run 12.29@110.4 N/A and going for 11's when the track is open this spring.

First I would like to say thanks Spyder. I have read many of your posts and appreciate all of the info.
Sorry. I guess I was a bit vague on my guestion. I have not heard much talk about TC's on the forum, and the forum is where I have gotten most of my "limited" knowledge about the Mustang. So I was wondering if a new TC is worth the approx. $900 it would cost.

yeah it's worth it but mine only cost about $650 and it was a custom job right from TCI. you can get these things now for $400-500 through jegs and summit racing. most shops can do this swap in a day maybe 1/2 day if they are good. this is one piece i did actually have to pay someone to do for me cause i didn't have access to my dads shop that weekend(he took his keys with him out of town
and i just couldn't wait two weeks) so JJ at woodbine did it for $300. so i guess the total should be somewhere around $900 for eberything.
it's worth every panny to me. if you look at my car i really don't have much to increase horsepower. pulleys, e-w/p, hooker l/t's, aluminum driveshaft and some gears. the rest is all suspension stuff i've done. my car is one of the quicker n/a cars and it's an auto. the converter and the tune from bamachips were the keys to me running low 12's. also while you are doing the converter i recommend the Performance Automatic trans pan with dipstick. it holds 4 extra qts. to ensure cool temps and it allows you to service and check the trans fluid. no need for special pumps/tools or going to the dealer for it. it costs somewhere around $400-450 but worth it also to me. i love it and it keeps my trans temps within 20 degrees even after 7 rounds of racing 'round robbin' my car didn't vary more than .007 of a second and trans temps were stable throughout the night.
if it keeps parts alive and makes the car consistantit's worth doing even though it doesn't make you faster.
