Default issues

i have the fuel pump problem where it cuts off fuel when on cruise for a while. but i also notice in the mornings or when i leave work, when i take off, it seems to jerk really bad, until i shift into 2nd then from there on, i can come to a stop or just keep shifting, and it runs like a champ. think this jerky start up is related to the fuel pump? i am planning on stopping for the ford dealer here in town and get it looked at, i just wanted to know if this was related or another issue all together. thanks in advance.

maybe the "jerky start" your referring to is the super-touchy manner of the throttle upon first startup when the car is cold.

Let it warm up. Don't just start it up and drive away.

When I wake up, the first thing I do is start up my car, then go get ready. But at least let it warm up for like a minute or two.

i let it warm up a few minutes before taking off. i first noticed it this winter, so i had thought it was just because it was so cold out.

its just something htat has come up in the last few months. just annoying mostly. (for the jerky issue). thanks everyone, i'll just take it in and see, i just wanted a heads up before hand.

I had the fuel pump replaced for the hesitation issue and finally had a good chance to test it on a little road trip. After cruising in 5th for about an hour I dropped it into 4th and punched it - no hesitation at all.

I agree with AmericanMuscle; she can be much more twitchywhen the temps are cold and the motor hasn't fully warmed up. Feels like a race horse at the gates trying to break out.

I have the same 2 problems.
1st one, I dont take very many looooong cruises, but will get it in for the tsb at some point.
2nd, let it run for a minute or so when cold, never have that problem if I do that.

I always let the car warm up before driving it. My know the manual says 30 seconds, but I let it run until it idles down to normal rpms and then wait a minute or two before pulling off.
