2006 gto or 2007 mustang gt?
ok...the GTO (IMO) looks too much like a 2003 chevy cavalier..albeit it is bigger and much more power...to me the GTO is to ricer looking...looks like every other small grand am/SRT/cavalier/ etc etc..... I love the lines and look of the GT. I would never be caught in a GTO.. Believe me...I drove both...rented a GTO and almost bought one when one of my friends did....then I woke up...GT all the way
" I was also very worried about parts availability if something went wrong, especially with the GTO specific parts. There are only about 45K GTOs. "
This is very true. I had a '05 GTO for the last year and a half (just sold it). It was in the shop at least7 times-all under warranty. I wanted to mod it, but was scared to lose the warranty with all the problems that I had (no engine problems, though). Had to wait a month for an ignition switch. A month for a rearend. A couple weeks for a gas pedal (electronic throttle sensor) etc, etc. These carswere very limited production. This is going to only get worse.
A really fun car thatloved to drive sideways, but a bit soft on everything else. You don't see better than 12.9's stock because its so hard to launch with the soft IRS, and skinny tires (small wheelwells).
IMO, the GT is a better car overall, but I wish they'd put a engine in it with some grunt. I'd love to have that LS2 in my GT.The new camaro is going to be great for the mustang.Unless it totally flops, Ford willhave to come out with a mid levelengine to compete with the LS2, butcheaper thanthe GT500. Why can't we get a DOHC 5.4 like those Aussies?
BTW, I got a lemon law lawyer and tookthe GTOto GM. Theydidn't think it was lemon material, but gave me $5500for my troubles (lawyer got $1500).

Tons of aftermarket products for the mustang, plenty to choose from, which makes it more personal.
More mustangs on the street (??) which makes the prices cheaper for maintenance
You're gonna pay tons of money for the body kits in order to make the GTO look as nice as a Mustang

Sure
Come on a Mustang forum and ask if you should buy a GTO.........
2006 GTO is butt ugly.
This is coming from aguy who owned a 65, 66 and 67 GTO and raced them in the seventies. Those were GTOs.
This last edition was an Australian Grand Am with a LS1.

Basically, I liked the GTO but really couldn't get comfortable with buying a such a limited production, discontinued model with the hybrid Austrailian/US manufacture.

Once they added the hood vents to the GTO it at least wasn't totally a cavelier and looked slightly better but I still think it looks bad. The rear quarters are just aweful.
