My Stang is pinging when shifting into second and thrid only when on hard acceleration, I have only the stock tune with the K&N dropin, I tried 89 octane and the same thing, Can I run 91? on the factory tune??? Any ideas on what is causing it??

It saids in the manual if it pings a little like the example your speaking of don't worry about it. But if it pings all the time go to the dealer.

Page 209 in my 2005 manual it saids

If you are experiencing starting rough idle or hesitation driveability problems, try a different brand of unleaded gasoline. Premium unleaded gasoline is not recommended for vehicles designed tu use Regular unleaded gasoline because it may cause these problems to become more pronounced. If the problems persist, see your dealer or qualified service technician

It should not be necessary to add any aftermarket products to your fuel tank if you continue to use high quality fuel of the recommended octane rating.

Do not be concerned if your engine sometimes knocks lightly. However, if it knocks heavily under most driving conditions while you are using fuel with the recommended octane rating, see your dealer or a qualified serivce technician to prevent any engine damage.

 

That just about sums it up, I might as well get a tune??
