Default RE: Driveshaft & pinion ??

From what I can see, a lighter driveshaft reduces the HP loss in the drivetrain so more goes to the tires - less rotating inertia. Then again, it could be lighter but if the diameter was large enough you wouldn't see any difference. As much weight as these shafts are taking off it would have to be 8-10 inches or morein diameter to cause that though. Also, with the 1 piece shaft there's less moving parts to break. That goes back to what is known as the KISS method.

I am going to measure the angle first before I drive it to see what it's at. I'm sure it won't be that far out but knowing my luck, I'll have the one car that is so far out it breaks the shaft.

What I really need to do is become friends with someone that has a lift. I thought about getting drive on ramps like you see at car dealers when they display a car but then I priced them.

i do them on jack stands most of the time since the lifts are usually taken with extended projects (street rods, muscle cars, resto-mods etc.) so that leaves me on the ground. i honestly think it takes me longer to jack the car up and secure it on stands than to remove and install the driveshafts.
dyno #'s are in the 8-10hp range and don't reflect the SOTP and 1/4 mile time changes. aloowing the engine to rev quicker means it will produce the same hp for a given amount of time. ex. in 2 seconds the engine can rev to 5000 rpms but with a lighter drivetrain you can reach that rpm in say 1.5 seconds. when you're in gear that means you are moving during the rev therefor e.t.'s drop. it's like gaining 30+rwhp.

Denny's newer shafts do not need an adaptor plate. I haven't installed it yet so I can't comment on its function. I've only heard good things about Denny's and Spyder's.

hahahaha i can't do free but if you are serious about switching pm me maybe we can work something out.
I would like to try a driveshaft that replaces the stock pinion flange. As I mentioned in another post I have a vibration at 3200ish rpms that would vibrate my rearview mirror with the denny's driveshaft, but was only a slight annoyance with the stock driveshaft. It's still there after getting the 4.10 gears installed so it's either the carrier like you suggested or possibly the stock flange. It could be neither. I still need to put it up on jack stands with the tires off and run it up to 3200 and see if it changes. I might change the diff before I try another driveshaft. It's less noticeable now since the car accelerates faster, but sitting at 3200rpms will do it every time.

hey moosestang- you can try this- http://stangsuspension.com/store/com...idproduct=1176 it is what the newer Denny's shafts come with instead of the adaptor plate

Denny's said the driveshaft isn't the right length to be used with a different pinion flange. I'm not sure how that would work since I have a flat flange at both ends, i guess i'd have to remove it from the joint and then bolt that directly to the Ujoint.

Anyway I think my problem might be with the transmission. I'm going to try changing the transmission fluid first. I might even try putting the car back to stock height just to see if it makes a difference.
