diesel truck almost walked from me!

RE: diesel truck almost walked from me!
Most people don't like to admit it, but diesels are far superior to gas engines. They have incredibly strong blocks and internals, and because there is no fuel mixture there is no boost limit, never any chance of pre-detonation. Plus diesels put out more torque per horsepower than any other engine, not only because of their method of combustion, but also that all diesels are super-stroked from the factory. Drop a powerstroke into a Mustang and see what happens.

Diesel also contains more energy than Gas per even amount.
But think of it another way they need turbo's in order to get those big HP /Torque numbers so side by side comparisons the gas cars are usually faster. But diesels respond to minor mods much better. 40+% hp / torque increase is not uncommon with just a tune.
If any of you have driven an N/A diesel you will know how awful they are. just hope it doesn't become like europe out there where diesel is becoming the vehicle of choice. Saying that I would not say no to a BMW 335D with tune. Something about 500+ft lbs of torque straight from the factory coming in at 1700rpm on a 3 litre engine sounds good to me.

I remember when I worked for WWWilliams, the average engine we dynoed came in at 475hp 1650ft-lbs of torque, that was at 25psi of boost. with 25psi of boost the engine will last over a million miles normaly (this is the DDS60 engine). We had seen engines with over 50psi of boost, but with the same power levels, the fuel was held back for emmission reasons. In theory, the engine could take almost an unlimited amount of boost, at 100psi with full fuel, you could be looking at around 2000hp and around 7000ft-lbs of boost. On stock internals and pump diesel. Although it would be hard to find a tranny to hook it up to.

with diesel being a lil cheaper and decent quality, there may be market for engines of different fuels, some day.
but right now gas engines in our "nimble" pony cars fit the bill
