ive got a 2005 mustang GT. its a 5-speed and my whole console gets really hot around the shifter.. the shifter it self gets hot, the leather cover thing thats connected to the shifter and the cup holders near the shifter get really hot. Can any one tell me if this is normal? is your GT 5-spd like this?

im not talking like really hot.. just warm around the shifter and the leather and all the way to the cup holders

It's normal. It's especially noticable for guys with a hurst shifter. (Just touch the metal arm on it after sitting in traffic for a few minutes and you'll see what I mean). Those geniuses at ford put the catalytic converters so high up in the tranny tunnel, they might as well be in your lap.

Yup, normal. On really hot days when sitting in traffic, my shifter and the footwell areas get kinda hot.

Yea, normal. its from that bada** engine right infront of you and all the exhaust and stuff.


Besides, its nice on a cold day, it keeps your hands warm

Its call the breakfast comfort package. It allows you to put your sandwich or bagel next to the shifter and remain warm. Any coffee in the frontmost cupholder will retain heat as well. On a really hot day, its referred to as the fried egg package, wherein you can crack an egg and drop it on the leather, and in 8 minutes, its completely cooked. [8D]
