Default Ticking Noise

Well it looks like my valve adjusters might need to be replaced. I just started to get an intermitted loud ticking from the drivers side of the engine. It's doesn't appear to be a injector, and it's not the a/c compressor.

If it is the lash adjuster wouldn't the noise be there all the time? The ticking is very infrequent right now.

Has anyone had TSB # 06-9-11 (Stuck lash adjuster) done?

Any other suggestions???

Thanks!
Jeff

My '08 Shelby GT has a ticking noise between 3k and 4k rpm, especially in 4th gear. It doesn't do it at idle or when revved in neutral. It's not loud, but even my wife heard it, so I know I'm not imagining it. Could you describe the noise your '06 is making?

I have this same sound! Not a sounds at all doing a free rev but once under load, I can hear it pretty good. Esp between 2-4.5k rpm. Dealer tried to tell me it was the tranny (something called gear rollover) but I told them BS and walked out. The noise is linear with engine speed. Mine is clearly coming from the passenger side valve-train. Bad thing is the next closest dealer is 40 miles away. Let ya know what they say next week.

Did you bring your car in yet to be serviced. I'm wondering if they actually found something. I was looking over tsb's from my local dealer and saw one relating to a stuck or collapsed tappet or HLA caused by low oil pressure to cylinders 4 or 5 closest to the firewall. The only problem is they say its caused by dislodged material from an aftermarket oil filter and I've only used motorcraft. I refuse to believe these tapping noises are normal. I accept a certain amount of valvetrain chatter, but a distinct tapping noise must indicate a larger problem or impending failure of some sort.
