The thought to "air up" is foolish for running 1/4 miles, (and I've seen people do it)because then your creating less "grip" (henseforth the wrinkle on Dragsters) for launch.
It does helpto "air up" the front tires in order to reduce rolling resistance.

as far as hittin the strip.. on street tires.. i wouldnt drop it any lower then like 25.. for safety reasons.. if it was a drag radial.. than i wouuld go down to like 12 or14.. but its a street tire.. not made for that.. and a blow out at that speed would be BADDD..

and on the fronts.. yes.. i would air them up to like 38 for the track.. but drop them back to 32 before you head home..

BEST WAY TO SEE IF YOU HAVE THE OPTIMAL PRESSURE:

do a 5 foot burnout. examine the tire marks.

If you are worried about consistent pressure, have your tires inflated with Nitrogen. It only cost $20 at some Ford dealers. I have had it for over a year with no drop in pressure.

When I was in Calif, that was the norm and even then, a Vette and a Super Bee walked away from me.
Thats because of your gears...they're way to high, get 3:73's or 4:10's

I don't think they had the 1/4 mile strip in mind when they said to air up. I think they meant sustained high speed driving. I read it in the owner's manual I believe. Maybe on the side of my tire.

That's not the purpose of nitrogen. We use in in our slicks in karting because within a course of 15 laps around a roadcoarse, our tires heat up so much that we blister the rubber. gains of 4 psi are common-which really screws up a chassis setup.

Nitrogen is used to minimize the gain in pressure. Thats all.
