Pypes Violators

RE: Pypes Violators
Let me put it this way. In order to get the classic musclecar sound (like in the old days), you need drone..Thats just what makes them awesome.
I looked to get violators also, but after months of searching I went with MAC boomtubes. Just how I like it-deep and loud, but not raspy or annoying.
Hope this helps[&:]

yeah i guess, im just trying to avoid a potentially annoying situation. i sit here and check out videos and sound clips of exhaust because my worst nightmare is to end up with an exhaust and the first thing i would want to do with it is return it after installing it

RE: Pypes Violators
I bought these because they were cheap and I did not know what I wanted to do with the exhaust but new I wanted different from stock in the short term.
I think they sound great in general. They arent raspy and dont pop at all unless they are cold.
I do get a drone from 1500 - 2000 rpms. In the lower 4 gears that really isnt a problem but when cruising in 5th its was annoying. This is about 45-55 mph for me. At first I would just keep it in 4th until 60 but I have gotten used to it so now I dont care. Look at it this way if you dont like them you are only out $200. Most people end up changing their exhasut a couple of times.
I would recommend painting them with some exhaust paint prior to install. They started to corrode after about a week, but it is realy humid here. FL in the summer. If I wasnt so lazy I would take them off and paint them now, but I will just replace them later.
I would say for the money, you cant do much better.

RE: Pypes Violators
Good timing, I just had my Pypes catback with Violators installed today. When I picked the car up, I was a little worried about turning the key and hearing something I couldn't live with. But...I was not disappointed. At idle it's not much louder than the stock sound, but when you get on it it's very nice. Just adjust your RPMs to whatever sound you like. Also, I heard it gets a little louder after you drive it awhile. I haven't noticed any drone yet, but I haven't had it on the highway much today. I'll give it a good test tomorrow.

I wanted to change the exaust sound, but didnt want to spend money on a part that does nothing for performance. I talked with Dave at brenspeed and he talked me into the o/r H-pipe. Its like $170, is an 8hp gain, and only takes about 45 min to swap back to stock H-pipe for the smog test. I am still running stock mufflers and love the sound. It rumbles, is louder, but not stupid loud. As for drone. . . .I have no idea what drone is, so it might drone like a bastard and I wouldn't know.
Just a thought

RE: Pypes Violators
I just bought these from Brenspeed last week and put them in over the weekend. Firstly I'll say I love the sound, and I don't notice any drone, it maybe there but I don't notice it. Secondly, maybe I'm mechanically handicapped but they took me forever to install. I'm talking about hours and hours. I'm embarrased to tell you how long. I had to take them on and off about 8 times each to get them aligned, I still have the passenger side not lined up correctly. So I have to take that side off again. They do look great and like I said I think they sound great too, my wife even likes them and she was not happy about me getting them at all. If anyone has anytips on how to align these please let me know.
