I'm not really sure what the OP is going on about. I see posts all the time about people worrying about their warranty if they retune the engine. Ricers everywhere are laughing at those people and I laugh with them.

warranty's are for suckers anyways

No- only extended warranties are for suckers.
But pissing away your 3 year/ 36,000 mile original factory warranty really seems just as dumb to me- unless you're SO freakin' rich that you don't mind throwing away money.

I chose the FRPP alternative- which gave me a conservative (but still very noticable) 93 octane tune, CAI, and those fabulous GTA axelbacks with 4" tips.
At $1362 (grand total including tax and labor), it cost me about $400-$500 more than aftermarket parts which I'd have to install myself, but at least I KEPT my full 3 year warranty.
Why was this important? Cause last month I suddenly discovered that I had a leaking tranny seal.
Took it to the dealer, and picked it up the next day free of charge- for what would otherwise have been maybe a $500-$600 repair.
And as of today, I still have 2 years remaining on my warranty!
NOW who's the sucker...?

yup its me again. not gonna hate on anyone here, but.....I did have a K&N w/out the tune and did feel a difference like saleen05797 said above so i know where he's coming from, then i changed to JLT w/ the tune. and yes i also changed my mufflers twice already too. i guess its just me changing my mods as i change my mind. so in the future i will do more research before buying. but i guess thats the nature of modding.

No sweat, different strokes for different folks. I've chopped off the stock Saleen mufflers, ran straight pipes, now run flowmasters, have had an O/R X-pipe, and now I'm switching that to an H-pipe. No really telling what you will like unless you hear it in person or try it out for yourself.

Crap, I wish there was was the 20 or so guys like me who had already done and tried everything when I started modding. You guys got it made now IMO. Heck, when you have an idea for a mod, you can look up 6 ways to sunday of ways it's been tried, tweaked, and what goes with it and what works and what doesn't. In early 05, none of us knew jack sheet and we had to learn by breaking crap. I'm not complaining cause it was actually some really good times back then and the dozen or so of us really worked together. Geez, I could call Justin Burcham, Mike Bowman, Mike Schropp, Al Papito, John Urist, J.R., Dustin, Jim Bell, etc. etc and talk for hours and shoot the crap over what the heck to try. Nobody was really looking to make big money, just wanting to find out what these new S197's could do. Need a darn appointment for a five minute call to talk to most of those guys now.

Ah, the good ole days (2 years ago...lol)

Anyway, no regrets, just know that you guys now have it a lot easier than us early modders...

Listen, there will be always be 'warranty nannies'. Those of you who are should lighten up and accept the flack. You have to acknowledge you are on a mustang 'Forum' NOT a mustang 'fan site'. The majority of the people here are here to learn and share their experience with cosmetic and performance mods...period.

Of course those who are warranty driven will be in the minority. Hey, everyone's welcome here and even though my personal opinion is if you are concernced about a warranty, you should buy a kia - hey, whatever floats your boat.

Warranty and 'muscle car' are an oxymoron IMO. I don't even think the two words were used together in the same sentence until the launch of the S197, really...

But for you 'warranty nannies', please don't think you are 'so much smarter' than the rest of us. Until you've lifted the front wheels on these heavy beasts and felt the force of a 1.4X (or better) 60', you have no idea what you are missing and what that feeling is worth...

You guys love your warranties, and I love my 0-60 in 2.1 seconds, 105 mph within an 1/8 mile, and 130 mph within a 1/4 mile - it's just a matter of what makes you feel good and if a warranty is what gives you wood, then you got your money's worth...

O.K., call me a "warranty nanny" if that makes you feel good fordfanboy- guilty as charged! LOL.
But don't ever tell me again that: "if you are concerned about a warranty you should buy a kia", cause then I will be forced to hunt you down like a dog and stick KIA (or better yet- PRIUS!) decals all over your car.

And I don't think that I'm "so much smarter" than those of you who voided your warranties- I just think I have more foresight, and who's to say I'm wrong? I already needed one expensive repair, and I've still got 2+ years or 29,400 miles to go!

And FYI, I am familiar with the rush that comes from really kick-*** acceleration- back in the day (1967) I learned to drive a stick on my neighbor's heavily-modded Stingray, and I had friends who owned beasts like a Z-28, a Boss 302, and a Hemi-Cuda.
But my street racing days are now long gone (been there- done that!), and I'm delighted, and more importantly, satisfied to own this beautiful mid-13 second car.
It floats my boat, it gives me wood- and it's even got a valid warranty!

It's my 'opinion' about warranties, but as I said, I respect what you like and at the end of the day, all that matters is that you are happy with what you've done and have. Sounds like you are so that makes you equal in my book...

BTW: I have also 'been there done that' as far as street racing is concerned. Heck, I get hounded on a daily basis to let my car loose and I rarely ever bite. Most people around my area think my car is just a show car...lol

Nope, I HATE street racing and think it's pure crap for the true racing sport. I get my kicks at the tracks...

Ok, I have read the million or so posts on here regarding the cai/retune and the pro's/con's to using vs. not using. To be frank, my brain hurts! Everyone seems to have an opinion on the matter, and it boils down to this...it's an opinion. Yes there are some very educated posts and some folks speak from years of expertise with engines. In the long run, it still ends up being just an opinion. I thank the ones who posted information that was clear and written in a way that "we" could all read, and I learned alot from them. I have decided to leave my car FULLY stock (as far as the air intake system) and never consider a cai/tuner again. again, thanks to the ones who know, and maybe someday the manufacters and ford will make it easier to upgrade the air intake system. Then again...maybe not!

Way to go. I think you've got it. Hard to beat stock for longevity, dependability, and fuel economy. If I want to hear more rumble out of my tail pipes, I'll just turn down the radio.[X(]

[sm=funnypostabove.gif] Hey, thanks for the "attaboy!"- I guess I'm lucky that my plumbing fixtures are still A-O.K. at this "advanced" age...

When that sad day finally comes when I'm no longer firing on all cylinders, then I suppose it'll be time for that little blue pill...
