Could you see any baffles or butterfly valves whenyou took off the top part of the supercharger? Now you got me wondering what exactly this actuator is controlling inside the supercharger.
Does anyone have any other experience adjusting the bypass valve on their charger?
the bypass valve? Are you talking about the pump actuator?

When you take the top of the supercharger all you can see is the intercooler and maybe oil? (I didn't take a real close look at the fluid we were getting tired.) We didn't takethe intercoolerout though. We were hoping to see a lot more.

Ok guys, here is how it works..........

There is a butterfly attached to a shaft (like a carb or t.b.) that extends outside of the blower housing. The dashpot, vacuum valve, whatever you wish to call it moves the shaft open or closed. The first 2 pics show the valve closed / dashpot arm contacting the stop screw. This is the position when engineis off orunder boost..no vacuum. Second pics are valve open / dashpot arm Not contacting stop screw. This is when engine is at idle or cruise...vacuum present.

Turningin the stop screw will make the butterfly close more, turning out ,will open more. I do not recommend, suggest, advise, etc. modifying the setting. There is a good chance that the butterfly (if closed tofar) may bind in the bore. If this happens, under full boost, high rpm, once you let off the throttle, the boost will not bleed off!

This set up may seem cheap, half ****, etc. to many people. BUT, it is a simple yet very effective design. Look at Ford's factory supercharged cars/trucks. They are the same design.

Casey you rock! That is a great explaination and it makes total sense. I wish Saleen would use something a bit morepermenant when they set the position of the nut on the screw...perhaps somewashers between the head and bolt, tack weld it,orsomething.....because a small plop of wax is very easy to move around. I knowmine moved a few timeswhen I installed the screw, but Ithink I was able to get it back to its orignal position.

06saleen, check under your hood, yours are black factory. they really arent needed until you get some boost, and even then, its rare to need them.
some do, some dont, but in the end, its a $400 for about 3-5 hp.
