It amazes me that anyone puts any faith in the computer regarding fuel consumption...We all learned this thing called "math", remember?

It amazes me how people can assume that I had any faith in the "computer". My original question was in regards of how the computer calculates the fuel consumption. All my mileage numbers given are using my own math.

Then why do you seem astonished that it was off by over 1 gallon? The computer can only calculate how much fuel you've used and therein lie some of the inaccuracies.

Nuke, you are an idiot. I am not astonished that its off by a 1+ gallons, especially if its not using the injector pulses to calculate the fuel usage. If it WAS using the injector fuel flow for the calculation, then there would be something odd about the usage numbers.

Thank you for the insult, cataclysmgt. I was simply wondering why you asked. From the title of your post, it seemed like it surprised you. I'll gladly ignore you from now on.

Don't mean to hijack this thread, but I just installed a CAI and Tune from Brenspeed and the speedo is off by at least 5 mph (showing lower than actual). I tried to adjust the tire revs/mile to the tire spec as well as adjust the gear ratio to 4.10:1. However, these values give me the same speed as when I leave it "as stock." Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Dustin

exactly, threadstarter, you made it seem like you based your calculations solely off the computer. 1 gallon off is not a huge margin at all by any means. you could've idled a bit longer a stop light than usual, more stop n go, etc. Driving conditions are never EXACTLY the same after every fillup.

As far as being 1 gallon off. Mine has been dead on everytime. Zero miles to empty
means you still have 1 gallon left. Never been able to get over 15 gals into it.
