Default Starting problem.

I just recently got a supercharger installed and tuned by a race shop about 4 days ago on my 2006 stage 1 roush. It's been running great until tonight when the i tried starting it up and the engine started to sputter, not ever starting. I could hear the engine trying to work so it definitely wasn't the battery. After about 5 minutes trying to get it to start i left it alone for a second and then tried tapping the gas while trying to start it and it worked. (i have no clue if tapping the pedal made a difference.) While getting it tuned they mentioned they had a fuel pump problem so getting my car back took longer then expected so i thought they fixed it. Could this be the problem? And should i talk to the raceshop asap and not drive my car or is it not very serious? Thanks!

Default RE: Starting problem.

The first tune on my car (which has a Saleen SC installed), had a starting issue also although mostly when the car was cold. The problem was the car was running very rich. What it would do is the motor would turn over and the car would try to start then die, I would wait a 30 seconds or so tap the gas or hold it down some and try again, it almost always started on the second try. With my new tune the problem went away.

Does your car sputter when you are taking off? What kind of mileage are you getting? If your mileage is worse than you were getting stock, your tune my be too rich.

wow that sucks, have you tried loading the factory tune, to see if it would even start? Do you have your dyno sheet with your A/F on it and the numbers?

My turbo car is doing the same thing. They say it is not the tune but sure does smell rich. I am not getting any check engine lights. We did the stock tune thing and it still didnt idle.

If you have a strong fuel smell its got to be running rich. Before my new tune the car would load up at idle, and you could almost see fuel coming out the tail pipes.Who did your tune?
