I forget which magazine it was in, MMFF i think, but i read an article where they compared a Kenne Bell vs Procharger on 2 otherwise stock GT's. They were both putting out just over 500rwhp on stock bottom ends.
No ones doubting it can be done, but you can do it for much longer and with less chance of breaking a rod with a built short block.
+1 you may run 500 rwhp for a year, a week, or you may not make it off the dyno (just saw one the other day[:@]).

I already have plans for a new short block after the first of the year. I'm 470 rwhp at 6000 rpm and I'm running rich. Tunner is concerned if he leans it out any we'll blow the motor.

If you do the labor or the labor is cheap then get the parts. If the labor is expensive get the built shortblock. Around here labor is cheap so it is better to go with parts.
