A cai and a good tune and 4.10 gears will give you that "OMG quick" feeling your looking for.

I thought it was $30,000, mustangs don't cost $38,000? So what did your friend do to make 513rwhp?

Not bashing my friend, I,m aware it's almost 8 years old but it is a NICE car that can be had for $8K less that a new S197 with under 50,000 miles and makes 513RWHP. Options, that was all I was sayin'. I am fully aware that it didn't do it stock...

It's a C5 vert. Keep in mind we're talking Canadian funds (your guy's dollar being almost equal), even now. It's a beautiful car if you are not one of those "Ford Only" guys. It was brought in from Jersey. For $30K it was done for the street as far as I'm concerned. Vortech S-Trim and the fCker spun the whole 1/4 and still trapped 123. It has the capacity to run 12 PSI. Just a clean '2000 Vette 'vert, blowin a Vortech S-Trim for $30K in Canada is a deal. And the reason I say this is because a new S197 vert here is in fact $38K!!!! If I was the buying public I would take the vette. I know I'll get flamed in open forums but $$ is $$...

I'm a corvette fan, but can't afford one, atleast not a new one. If I want to make big power and go in a semi straight line i'd still choose the mustang. I'm not a fan of the IRS. They seem to break even on the expensive z06, which frankly shouldn't happen on a car that expensive. Your friend might want to consider a ford 9 inch swap.

Well your dollar might be even, but you're still getting the shaft on new car prices. I'd like to see a stock ls1 hold 12psi without blowing up. There was a post about someone blowing two ls2's without any power adder in a c6, so you might want to rethink your purchase. I've never heard of a stock 4.6 blowing up.

RE: Should I have been more impressed?
Lets compare Apples to Apples.
A new C6 Vette ($46,110 MSRP)can be had for $5000 off.
So call it $41,000 Street Price and they can go as quick as 12.2's.
A Mustang is going to be around $26,500 Street Price for a Premium with 3.55.
$27,000 after you add a CAI/Tune. They can go as quick as 12.8's in this tune.
I have been told the Deluxe is no longer available with 3.55 (not sure how true this is).
For my money I would buy a Deluxe for $25,000with 3.31.
For a total of lessthan $26,000 you could haveCAI/Tune/4.10
That could be as quick as 12.5's...
