I orderd my tuner from Brenspeed and they write the tunes for your car and mods. I went with Brenspeed and the SCT xcalibrator2 because everyone on these forums spoke so highly of them. Now I can do the same. I never had mine on a dyno but I think they estimate 20-25rwhp. Feels like it too.

The tuner holds 3 tunes plus saves your stock tune. I was running a 91 octane tune until I found a place in town selling 93 octane. I was almost on empty so I went and filled up with 93 octane after work today and retuned my car to the Brenspeed 93 tune sitting right there at the pump! After driving around awhile to be sure I was running on the 93 I was totally amazed. It's so cool to be able to tune your own vehicle so easily.

I'm 50 years old. I haven't been able to have or do these kinds of things until this point in my life. My sister died when she was 24, my mom when she was 53. Life has no warranties so I'm modding in spite of any warranty issues. I'm finally enjoying something I've wanted all my life. Just my take on it.

When my Auto GT was stock, I've always wanted a manual.

Now, with the few bolt ons I have, my car is running like a champ!
Just missing 3.73s which are going on very soon and I'm sure I'll love the car more than ever!

CAI/Tune is the way to go. I went with Bamachips since they have the reputation of being the best tuner for Auto's.
93 Race tune FTW!

FI FTMFW!!

Like Nike.. Just do it. You want big power? Gotta spend big bucks. And by the time you're done, you'll most likely have laid out $5k in other misc. stuff (CAI/tune, wheels, suspension, nitrous, blah blah), so why not just do it right the first time? :-)

You really need to do the CAI and tune. We all have our preferences but at the end of the day; they are all really close. It comes down to which CAI do you think looks better under your hood? How much do you think it's worth to have the name Ford etc stamped or decal on the CAI? As for the tune, you should get 3 when you buy the handheld. I use an XCAL3 but others the Predator. Again, not a huge difference, it's just what the shop resells. Think of it like you resell Dell computers so those are what you consult people to use for their home and office.

SO, the first thing you should do is the CAI/tune combo kit. Then, as I said before, check with the "butt dyno" some of us call it "seat of our pants" and you may be happy enough. Since you have an automatic, your car will have woken up. And, despite the encouragment of many, unless you are building the car for heads up drag racing, having 265 WHP and a bunch of torque is a lot for a daily driver. Where i live the speed limit is 70mph and your baby will surpass that by a little bit......

unfortunitly I bought a f@$#'n auto. I did not realize I was sacrificing so much hp or I would not have made such an ignorant mistake. All I can do now is mod the living dog s%$# out of it.
Don't get too upset. With just my CAI/Tune....I beat a manual by 3 cars up to 80mph.

3 cars? Wow, he must've been a crappy driver (or didn't have a CAI/tune himself)...

Don't kick yourself in the butt about getting an auto. The power loss is only about another 5% - 7% which probably only equates to tenth or two in the 1/4. Most people who have manuals can't drive them the way the guys at Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fordsdo. I have the manual and it is definately fun to drive (I love picking my own gear) but the auto seems to shift lightning quick.
