It's sad how expensive every little minute detail costs in this car. A piece of trim $200. Headers $1400. 1pc Driveshaft $600. I can't wait till they realize the next generation, and hopefully it'll mean less $$$ out of our pockets for our beloved parts.

Ditto - I'm tired of seeing ridiculous prices just because this is a 'new' platform. It's been 3 years now and we can stop throwing the word 'new 3V' around...[:@]

Just venting...lol

The machine shop I talked to said the intake doesnt need much more than some cleanup. The exhaust side on the other hand needs alot of work Im sure partially because of the 2 valves feeding one. Everyone Ive talked to estimate between $1400 to $1600.
The exhuast only has 1 valve and the intake has 2valves on the 3v head.

Correct. This is the exact reason I'm putting together the 342ci motor on the 3V platform. Several guys have done the big bore 4.6 motors but all of them have done it on the 4V. I really think the 3V platform is going to unleash a beast with these new cubes and I can't wait to fire it up in a couple weeks...

I kind touse to gave the 4V to much credit imo and didn't give the 3V enoughI mean I like the the 4v heads ( wanted to go that route)but I am seeing the 3v impressme more (Justin & his S197 example) & more. So today I give the 3v more credit than I would in the past andfinding outthey flow really well.

I'm sure iwannagofast was refering to that by saying the 2 (intakes) feeding one (talking of the exhaust valve).

???? ^^^

I am not getting your post 2 intakes feeding what?

What it sounds like he is saying to me is the exhaust has two valves (opening)feeding one exhaust port.

Ok so this is what you mean then?
Your saying two (smaller)intakesopening taking in air but only 1 exhaust valve (larger)opening to get rid of the air (exhaust port)that two intakeslet in.

If this isn't ^^^ what you (guys)meant I give up.

From another forum, there is a thread on an 05 manual with the following mods:

LTs
hi flow cats
Stock mufflers
stock intake
stock TB
stock cams
CAI
87octane tune
UDPs
55,000 miles on the block
charge motion plates still in place and functioning properly

put down 305whp and 319wtrq

Port and polish on the heads with addition of manley springs
put down 340whp and 346wtrq

wonder what the numbers would have been with 1mm oversized valves and 93 octane tune?
