lol. If i could just get my girlfriend to think like this, but thats why i love coming here. I'm not amechanic or anything but i would like to try to install a ts myself. I worked on cars iv had in the past but they where mainly bolt ons, nothing as big as a supercharger.Would this be over my head? How many of you have successfully installed a Whipple or Saleen yourself?
The point is it is only money so have fun. And keep a stash of money on the side for the "rainy days"

Let me just say that a TS (either the saleen, whipple or KB) is the best investment for an all around fun street car.
Having said that, based on what you said and your concerns, you would probably be best suited wih a vortech and be very satisfied. If you don't have access to a good tuner, the WATER COOLED centrifugals are much more forgiving tune wise: specifically meaning you can get away with more 'not so great' tune parameters on the vortech then you could on say a KB.
If you are comfortable with your tuner - then get whatever you want and you will be fine. If you are wanting the best out of the box tuned kit (meaning you are not going to get a custom tune) then I would get the whipple hands down.
IMO - the whipple kit comes with the best out of the box tune of all the FI kits. Although the vortech is probably the 'safest' (if that word even means anything with FI) kit but you will definitely want a new tune cause the vortech included tunes just plain suck.

I agree the vortech is the most forgiving and easiest to tune.

Get the saleen and go to Brenspeed and let them install it for 650.00 bucks its a steal and tons of fun and safe. I beat on my car all the time running the Brenspeed stage 3 saleen kit at 8 psi with 439 rwhp you can't go wrong.PM me if you have any questions about the saleen, good luck.

I think your goal should be to use every S/C and turbo kit on the market on your car. What is life without optimistic goals?
Oh and my ***** are just fine thanks
