what do you guys feel about the SCT X3 vs. X2 tuners?

i just ordered one from brenspeed, they sell both but said the X2's are more stable and the X3's being 'new' technology have been fairly problematic...

i dont see myself doing much in way of tuning.. i bought the car w/a bbk CAI and it set the check engine light off.. my primary reason for the tuner is to do away with that light and to make use of the CAI...

im not much mechanically and cant see myself downloading data or doing log analysis... but i also thought technology wise... newer is always better...


so im leaning towards the X3. Would you guys go for the newer X3 or stick with the reliable X2 - both cost the same...


any advantages or disadvantages one way or another?

Just get the 2. many people having problems with the 3. The 3 is supposed to be more for datalogging. I only use my tuner to load a tune and for a cel. Nothing else. just go with the 2, it'll be fine. I'd go with the x2. It's funny how moist still use the 2 even though the 3 is out and the same price most places. Get the 2

Thanks Brad.. i went with the SC 2 tuner... i have called brenspeed 3 times the past few weeks.. i spoke to brent, dave and someone else.. all 3 times.. they were real nice, helpful and patient...

its nice to get good service still...

I have the X3 and have only used it to install my tune. I had no problems...it was pretty straight forward.

I have the X3 also, I have never experienced any of the problems that anyone says it has. And when it shipped to me American Muscle had already updated its firmware. Its a wonderful device, and has more capability than I use it for. But its nice to know that I can use it for datalogging and other tuning aspects in the future, should I choose to do so.
