Default Help !! Top End lacking.....

What are the best mods (N/A) for top end speed, can't get past 13.3 @ 104mph

CMDPs ? UDPs ? Camshaft ?

I am happy with a 1.96 60ft, plenty of low end.

Car really bogs down whenit hits4th, I am sure my bigger 1 3/4" LT headers don't help much !!

Any thoughts, suggestions ?

All 3 of those are going to help your top end IMO

I also happen to be doing all 3 in the next 2 weeks...

Hi desslok40,

You can't really fix the oversized primary tubes in your headers but I don't think you are being hurt too much with the cats in the down pipe. I've seenfolks with N/A motors and off-road H/X-pipes pick upsome good midrange torque and powerwith the addition of cats or resonators in the down pipes so I think the big primaries are not hurting you too much.

Your engine is being choked by the intake side, try installing a set of Steeda Econo (the former FRPP product)CMCV delete plates,BBK 62mm throttle body and a pair of Comp Cams Stage3 cams with matching retainers and locks. You will likely pick up 40-50RWHP and the power curve will not be as flat past 5,200RPM. Get some gears for the rear end, 3.73's are not enough for a small displacement multi-valve engine thatlikes to rev,consider4.10's or 4.30's if you are serious about ET's. Past that you can probably also improve your midand top end torque by installing larger injectors and getting the engine retuned. Thestock injectors are at well pastthe acceptable duty cycle limits onthe 3V engine with all the bolt-on parts and cams and cannot deliver enoughfuel in the air flow so the fuel puddles on thevalves. Nobody believes me,thiswillwork but you only need it afterall of the other mods I posted are installed and working. Go do the math for a 425bhp motor using 43PSI (sort of high on our engines) fuel pressure, a 70% injector duty cycle and 0.45BSFC and you will see that you need a 34lb. injectorfor an N/A motor!

HTH!
