Default Fuel Pump problem.......

I had the check engine light on in my car last week...
Took it too ford last friday and they said it was the fuel pump and
it had to be replaced under warrenty....

Just wondering if I had anything to do with it????
I put gas from a gas tank that I use for my snow blower.....Since we had not much snow I had a extra 3 gallions on gas left in it.....
I forgot to shut the Air cap on the gas can so I feel maybe air got into the gas can and by me putting the extra gas in ,I might have had something to do with it?????
The Service light is off now since ford is waiting for the part....
I guess the best thing for me is to have it replaced................JT

If it's free and under warranty....why not??? Air hitting the gas wouldn't have caused a problem. I'd be more worried about contamination in the gas....or oil!

+1, you didn't hurt the fuel pump johnny

i'd let the dealership replace it, if that's what the
mechanic recommends
