Oil change frequency?

RE: Oil change frequency?
The Motorcraft filter has been documented as being a good choice but I wouldn't go more than 5k miles on it. I'll stick to 10k mile oil and filter changes with my Amsoil filter and oil but IF I change over to the Motorcraft filter, then I'll replace the filter at 5k and stick to my 10k oil changes. I put about 2k miles/month on the Stang.

Don't bother with oil changes. they are pointless. Just drive it for 20,000 miles then sell it. Don't do any maintance

I had an old frod truck once. I never changed the oil in it. It changed itself. Had to add a qt. every 100 miles and clean the plugs every 500 miles.

RE: Oil change frequency?
Been using synthetic for years. Used to use 4k intervals. Got the GT, now using 5k interval in GT and Yamaha FJR. GMC 4.6 liter drives 23 miles each day to and from work, 46 round trip. Thinking I'll go to a 7.5k interval. Just can't get behind 10k intervals.
Was using Redline 20w-50 in all till GT's 5w-20. Now in NC using Amsoil. Last change in the GT was here with 0w-20 and Ford filter. Next is due soon, same oil, but maybe/probably Amsoil filter. Just changed GMC went with 10w-30 and Amsoil filter. Yamaha will be Amsoil cycle oil.
Will be changing 5 spd transmission fluid this time @30k miles. Last was at 3k miles. Used Redline and 10% mix Tufoil last time, this time will be Amsoil and 10% mix Tufoil.

RE: Oil change frequency?
For those who changed the filter before the oil, how do you do it? Are you draining all the oil out and pouring it back in or are you just quickly taking the old oil filter off and quickly replacing it with a new one?
I'd be kind of leary about draining the oil into a pan and then pouring it back into the engine, in case the pan wasn't 100% clean.

I believe he thinks that taking the filter off will cause the bulk of the oil to drain from the engine. No, onlythe oilin the filter will be removed and should NOT be put back into the engine. You'll need to top off the oil if you're replacing the filter and not the oil.
