Default Engine died

I was driving with 45 MPH on a city street this afternoon, and I became aware that there was suddenly no response to throttle inputs. I looked down and saw the battery symbol and engine symbol lit up. I pulled over and the engine restarted with no trouble.

I have 35,000 miles on it and have kept up with all the maintenance. It's an 08 with the 4.6L engine What do you think the problem is?

This happened to me it took 3 trips to dealership to figure it out. It would shut off like key had been cut off then it would fire back up.
no trouble codes. It turned out to be a bad conection to the computer. the ground lead-- it connected to the frame where the radiater is by passengers head light area. check all these first.
Man I hope this helps. []

1st time they said I had a blown fuse and all was ok, next time problem would noy repeat. But the 3rd time it would run for 5 to 10 seconds and shut off. I limped to dealership[&:].

No, I plugged in my XCAL2, but it said there were no trouble codes. BTW, after that it was perfectly normal. We went ahead and did some shopping for an hour or so, and no further problems.

I have a 300 mile (each way) trip next weekend, and my '95 Crown Vic needs some repairs, so I don't have any choice but to take the Mustang. Also, my mileage is about 35,200 miles. I'll drive it to work this week, and that's about 60 miles a day, so that's 300 miles. Then the 600 or 700 miles on the trip will put me out of warranty.

What a pain.

08's are still 36000 miles. The upside to an 08 is you start with no miles; not 35200. Just a thought if you can swing it.

you still are going to be under warranty for it looks like maybe.

But honestly if it restarted its not like the dealer is going to be able to find the problem easily. I wouldnt worry. There have been several threads like this, all restarted and didnt seem to have a problem after

I forgot about the change in the warranty. It's still 36K / 3 yrs bumper-to-bumper, but it's 60K / 5 yrs on the drivetrain. And that applies to the 07's, because Ford notified me. Okay, that makes me feel a little better.

Yeah, it would be nice to get an 08, but then I'd have to start all over on my mods. Even worse, I'd have to deal with my "better half." I don't need her permission, but the next car we get needs to replace her '95 Crown Vic with over 200k miles on it. Now, maybe if I hold out, I could get an '11 with the 6.2L. That's what I'm talking about!

Just out of curiosity, I just looked up the blue book trade-in on my car, and it's about $16K. Ouch! I'd have to put down at least $15K to get an 08.
