I'm still curious as to if taking the mufflers off and having a shop put some 4' tips on my pipes would be the same thing as
the SLP loudmouths though. (and give you the same results in sound/performance)

Technically I would think it would give you the exact same results since LM"s are straight through.
I'm just wondering if my thinking was correct.
If you want to know what that sounds like just unbolt the mufflers and go for a run. You dont need any tips welded up to test it. the tips are mostly for looks. If you like that better then go back to a shop and have them weld the tips in then. If not go back to your mufflers

Not really. If you unbolt your mufflers, it will be a deeper tone than SLP Loudmouths.

I just talked to an old bud of mine at the gas station. He said a guy here had a shop and was doing that and got in trouble for it.
WTF I did'nt think that was illegal... I thought in TX as long as you did'nt take of the cats you were fine...

Most states and even cities have a noise ordinance. Where I am from it is 98db. But they usually only harras people with straight pipes or imports and Neons.

Actually I feel better now that you told me that? I was worried that my sound might change for the worse. I have had mine for 3500+ miles and the sound only changed after installing the S/C! Now it just sounds like a big block (best way to describe it)...... thanks for the info

the fiberglass in time will break down...
no fiberglass in them.. the magnaflow rep said it was actually lava rock wool packing material that is more heat resistant. He said it will not blow out as long as your car is tuned properly.
(whatever that means because I have factory tune)

He said something about the packing breaking in a setting after about 500-800 mi. and said it may get louder.
