slp LM along with my o/r x is mean as hell and old school as it gets, straight hot rod sound. I love it.

The SLP will give you a little more of the old school sound, I'll say it again.
Old school does have some raspiness and by no means do the loudmouths have alot.
But I don't wanna steer you away from boomtubes. The loudmouths and boomtubes both are good.
Loudmouths= a little louder and a touch of raspiness
