The Ford Manual calls for the same 10 newton meters. I would go over that I agree it doesn't sound like enough, but remember the cam is constantly spinning. Those caps are what the bearings
ride in so I would get a good torque wrench and tighten them to specs (10 Newton Meters). Good Luck and do it yourself if possible the cams will sound that much better knowing you did it yourself.
10 Newton Meters= 7.3 Lb-FT = 88.5 Lb-In

Have you got the tune from doug yet? I emailed him to have him make me one. These cams are going in. Only problem is that I plan on a whipple this winter so how would these work with that?
Yes, I got Doug's tune today. He said he had a car with these cams on the dyno so it should be a good tune. After I put mine on the dyno and check the air/fuel ratio I will contact Doug he said he would adjust the tune if needed. As far as the Wipple...that's a good question let me know how it works out as I am wondering the same thing. I can tell you one thing if you get the hot rod cams I would definitely do gears the same time or make it next on your list because while these cams are powerful they tend to make the power at about 3,000 rpm on up. You will notice a loss at the bottom end. I most likely notice mine especially because of my 3.31's.
Gears are taken care of. Have an appointment tomorrow morning for 4.10
. Did the tune wake these cams up anymore? I keep checking my email to hear back from Doug. Just like a kid in a candy store.
I have only driven it once since I got the tune and it was in 5 o'clock traffic, but I'll let you know. You'll have to let me know what your lower rpm's are like with the cams and gears.
I had spoken with a Tech at Ford Racing last week and asked about running a supercharger with the hot rod cams and he said there would not be any problems. I was concerned about the possible loss of boost from the high overlap but the tech said no problem. I also asked about whether to lock down the VCT or use limiters. He indicated to run as designed and there would be no concerns with Piston to Valve Clearance.
Still waiting for my cams. Ordered early in June from LateModelRestoration. Spoke with them again Friday and could not get any real answer other than to look for them early this week if I didn't get them on Friday. Obviously, as I write this, I did not get them last Friday or today. Guess I will call again tomorrow and if they can't confirm that they have shipped, I will look elsewhere.
