Default Axles...

When is it needed for aftermarket axles? I was talking to a friend of mine who happens to be a mechanic at a Ford dealership... I told him my current mods (because he asked) and the suspension work I plan on doing very soon... He told me I would want to look into new axles... I didnt really take his word for it because arent our stock axles fairly strong? If I am currect, are they 31 spline axles? I see a lot of guys running FI and motor work with the stock axles... When is the limit for the stock axles? (cause I know I have not even come close to reaching it...)

I only know of two people who have upgraded their axles. One is running in the 8's and the other hit a curb and bent his axle. The 31 spline axles is what people used to upgrade to. Your friend doesn't understand how strong the stock axles are. If you were going to upgrade anything in the rear end, I would get a new differential. But, I wouldn't even do that unless I were replacing gears already.
