Rotor wear

Rotor wear
After looking at a few threads on painting calipers and seeing others rotors I'm wondering if mine are fine. I purchased my 06 last month and can't believe how much rust is on the rotors. After seeing a few pictures of others rotors it seems like their pads are making contact with more of the rotor than mine. Apparently I don't have enough posts to have a picture in my thread as I don't see any way to insert a picture. A picture of my rotors is here: http://sublimediversion.com/mustang/calipers.jpg

Pad contact area depends on the brand of pads used. Cheaper sets are slightly smaller. There is a lot of rust there for an '06. But in the back ground I see some rust on other components as well. Looks like you live in the salt belt.
I would pull the rotors and have them resurfaced. Then install a quality set of street pads. Like Hawk HPS.

i agree with bob... most efficent thing you can do is change your pads but research as to YOUR desires as what you want and then pick your pad just make sure it has a higher contact patch and then get your rotars resurfaced as you pads will be contacting more surface area

mine look the same way. i think my parking brake doesnt fully disengage. the light turns off but for something that does 30% of the work mine look like crap. fronts still look great and rotors are nice and shinny. not like the rears. does yours squeek under light braking?
