I complained to a Ford mechanic that I had no power below 2500 rpm. He mentioned the adaptive tune.... I left it with him for some minor repairs, and when I got it back the car had more power! I dont know what he did. The change is subtle but definitely behaves differently.

He probably reset the computer and eventually the car will readjust the tune (adaptive learning). No worries just get a CAI and tune or FI!

You may also want to try using E10 gas(10% ethanol) to get a little extra oomph out of your engine, assuming you do not already use it and it's available in your area. I filled up with some while vacationing in another state this summer(E10 is not sold at the gas station where I normally fill up in my area), and it's slightly higher octane rating seemed to wake my car up. I say this because I was able to burn rubber from a 5 mph rolling start in 1st gear with the E10 and the temps in the 80's, and I've never been able to do that with plain gasoline under the same conditions and on the same road.

Turn traction control off and fck'n hammer it! If your already rolling and you hammer it and go nowhere......Try downshifting! Other than that theres nothing major you can do to make 3500 lbs move faster besides a new engine or a good blower.

Definitely do the battery disconnect then do 20 miles of pretty aggressive driving that should fool the adaptive learning into giving the most amount of power from the stock car as possible but that will only last for so long as the car will continue to adapt to your driving style (damm you KITT!!) for the longer term you need to think about bigger power upgrades such as the CAI, aftermarket tune and a higher octane grade, S/C + T/C's are great but cost a fair amount of money so that are longer term plans (at least in my eyes) for the moment what everyone else mentioned should make the car feel like the day you bought it.....

Do the battery disconnect, or do what I do, every week or so I do the trick to reset it. when the car is not running, turn it to the on position, push down the gas, try to time it over a period of 5 seconds from nothing to pushed all the way down, then let up over 5 seconds, then take your foot off completely and wait 5 seconds. start the car and I notice a huge difference every time, car even shifts smoother for a while.

steeda has an adaptive tune that is backed by the moco. It may be what he was talking about.
