My favorite exhausts for the 3v normally include an O/R H, 18" resonantors, and an axleback.

There is just something about the 3v that makes exhaust setup sound odd. If you have a 2v or 4v it is easy to get a great sound but the 3 is trickier.

The exhaust set up I will run soon with have the Pypes O/R H, Dynomax bullitt 18" race mufflers welded in before the axles and Pypes Violator Axleback.

The resonantor should get rid of any trumpeting or drone from an axleback.

Just my 2 cents once I get it all done I will post a vid so keep an eye out.

I'm running Pypes O/R catted x-pipe with AB Borla stingers and it sounds great. Yes you do get some drone but its only at 1900 to 2000 rpms and it does not sound raspy and does not trumpet. Everyone so far who has drove in my car has never complained or even asked about the drone so it can't be bad.

Kooks Headers to Kooks O/R xpipe here to Bassani mufflers. I haven't heard anyone even close to way my car sounds. The drone is not the best the neighboors hate but I get many compliments on it so I can't bring myself to change it.

I can't wait to see what cams sound like on my car.

My buddy used to have the stingers with a catted bassani x and it sounded good. The stingers will sound good with either an x or an h. The h will be deeper and the x be a little more high pitched. If you want to go a step further and want it to sound better than an x or an h get a prochamber...haha

I'm running Kook's long tube headers ( ceramic coated) with Kook's high flow catted H pipe and with Borla Ovals (Less Drone) and they sound absolutely amazing together

I agree, and even with Vettes, when I had mine (a C5), all the Vettes with aftermarket exhausts had the same sound, high pitched, and trumpet-y. And those were LS1's and 6's, an OHV 5.7L engine. Some cars sounded like sportbikes when going through the gears at WOT! I like the deeper muscle sound myself, when I do my exhaust, without a doubt I will use an H pipe.

From what I have been told by a few mustang gurus, SLPs plus the stock H-pipe will get you the muscle car sound.

I've ran several different axle-back setups with longtubes and an off-road h-pipe. First was JBA chambered. Nice sound but trumpted at 3k. then went to MAC axle backs. GREAT sound at idle and partial rpm but that goddamn trumpet again at 3k rpm. then I put the pypes mid-mufflers on. Even BETTER sound but still had that godamn trumpet at 3k rpm. I was getting tired of passengers asking "what the hell is that noise!?". what corrected the trumpet??? going back to catted mid-pipe. It sounds great (albeit much quieter) now. After running a super loud exhaust for over a year, it just sounds better to me now. I'd rather have 400whp than a loud exhaust at this point...
