Default Battery problems

Anyoner have a failed battery? Mine actually came apart at the neg terminal. dealer is covering it under the warrenty. Mine is a 2006 GT, 28K miles on it. Just wondering if anyone else had it happen. I didn't notice the break due to the battery cover.

Another thing I was told while getting a new battery.

I was out for the evening when it went south, went to Advanced Auto, as this is where I do lots of business and they would put it in for free. I was going to buy a new one anyway, why not let them put it in. Found out then as the tech removed the battery that it had come apart, he also said it is important to have power hooked up to the system when changing a battery as some new cars will have the air bag deploy if the battery is disconnected. Anyone heard of that before? Just curious.

Have not posted for a while, nice to see the changes on the format, still love the GT

I had a battery problem awhile back. I thought it was going to be my alternator not charging it fast enough because of my UDPs, but it turns out I had the wrong size battery. It was too small. Either Ford or the previous owner put the wrong one in.

Our air bags don't deploy when disconnecting the battery. Many of us disconnect the battery with some regularity to reset the adaptive learning.

It seems that there are a number of people out there with defective Motorcraft batteries or so it would seem from some of the threads I've read over the past 1 1/2 years.

there have been posts about how the haker 500 will drain your battery if you don't shut it off before turning the car off.

The tech at advance auto is a minimum wage guy with a crappy set of tools how HAS to change out wiper blades and batteries because they offer it. How do I know, I did it to keep myself out of the bars on my days off. No disconnected battery will deploy an airbag. A false input or shorted wire MAY (and that's a big may) deploy the battery. Hook things up correctly and no probs.
