Default need flywheel help

I'm trying to find an 8 bolt flywheel for s197's. The only one I've found is made by fidanza, but its not SFI 1.1 certified. Not that it needs to be but my guess is a SFI certified flywheel is better. I'd like to buy a spec flywheel but can only find them in 6 bolt. The 96-04 spec 6 bolt flywheel has a different part # then the 6 bolt flywheel for the s197 so i'm guessing they aren't interchangable for some reason. That rules out getting an 8 bolt flywheel for an 04 cobra. Spec does make a flywheel for the gt500. Does anyone know if i can use this? To make things harder I plan to use a mcleod RST clutch which was designed for the stock flywheel. Will someone point me in the right direction and tell me the difference between a SFI certified and non SFI certified flywheel.

So you have an 8 bolt crank? What build did you do on the engine?

As far as clutch and FW I would reccommend you just get the whole GT-500 clutch set up. I think i have read they are good to 600 ft lbs or better.

But I have an RST and love it. Why not just get a Mcloed 8 bolt FW. I am pretty sure they make them.

Good luck

+1 Get a Mcleod flywheel to use with the RST, its not 100% necessary but it would be best.

You might find something here.

Mustanggt0405 i've not built the bottom end of my mustang yet. I was going to buy the livernois 298 stroker kit today, but couldn't find time to get to the phone. I'll probably order tomorrow.

I'd like to use the gt500 clutch but they have 26 spline clutch discs. I think liberty transmissions makes a 26 spline input shafts for 05+ TR-3650's, but you have to send your 10 spline to them first. That just makes more down time.

I couldn't find anyone that sells the mcleod flywheel so thats why i didn't mention it. Do they have replacable friction plates?

Lethal Performance or GTR High performance both sell the RST, and yes it has replacable friction plate, and if for some reason the RST (rated 800hp to the crank) does not hold up, you can get an RXT and use the same pressure plate, and I believe they can make it for either the 10 spline or 26 spline, or if you have a 10 spline they can change it to a 26 spline by replacing the piece in the middle of the clutch (cant remember what that is called). Sorry I was talking about the clutch. I am sure GTR has them, because I bought mine there.
Phone number is 1-888-hipogtr ask for Gonzalo tell him you missed the group buy that I post a few months back, and maybe he can give you a deal.

Well it seems to me you have 2 choices.

The first is to send off your 10spline the day you pull the motor. By the time the SB is back in and ready you should have the 26 spline back.

The second choice is just use it as an excuse to get a TR6060. Good enough reason as any.

Finally please do a write up of your build or at least what you order. I am thinking about putting in a Livernois 298 SB with stock everything else and am curious how it goes.

Thanks,

Thanks,

Lol i'd love to get a TR6060, but my wallet isn't having it. I called lethal today and ordered a RST clutch and Fidanza 8 bolt flywheel. Be sure to check out my new thread.
