Default pushrod exhaust envy

I heard a friend of mine's 5.0 today. It is an engine he built from the ground up. Pretty much everything in it is high performance. He estimates 400hp. Its got headers, no cats, and I don't know what kind of mufflers - probably flows.

He cranked it up and...GAWD. I wish we could make S197's sound like that. Made my car (Bassani X + GTA's) sound like a tinker toy by comparison.

Or LT's!!!! but the pushrod motors of yesteryear do sound amazing with little changes to the exhaust system......all I did was run flows or dynomax super turbos and the car was a whole different beast (in the sound category!)

Our modular motors do have their pluses but in the sound category many still chase after that sound..... even changing the number of valves will change the sound created.....we will never have the same sound unfortunately but regardless its a mustang and still sounds like a mustang (even with aftermarket exhaust) when flying by a chevy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!

Holy ****! That sounds like a top fuel engine idling. LOL. I think I just peed a little.

This is making me question, FRPP Hot Rods or Thumprs again.

Do you have a dyno sheet comparing before and after cams? The thing I worry about with Thumprs is the low end loss that doesn't seem to happen with FRPP Hot Rods AFAIK.

I THINK some of the low end torque loss is due to the phaser limiter but I really have no idea...cant find my dyno chart but if you got with the thumpers you will need a good tuner, no offense to brensped but thier cam tune they sent didnt make nearly as much power as a custom tune...but obviously your going to get more power on a dyno tune specific to your car! The custom tune got a good portion of low end torque back, I will have to dig up that old dyno graph....YOU WILL NEED GEARS!! BTW had to put my stock cats back on for the custom tune, car was WAY too loud for around town.
