Default Trans Fluid Change Schedule

So other than my clutch thing which is in another thread I wanted to post up about the trans maintenance schedule.

Honestly I dont know when the book says to change it but I just did mine at 20k miles and it was pretty dark coffee color.

Granted I have a blower and might be harder on my trans than others, but I would say to change it at 20k. That will be my new schedule.

With my auto, I'm going on just under 48K miles. I really think I need to change it though b/c I'm getting some slight clunking when it downshifts to 2nd and 1st.

I remember clunking noises used to be my indication on my 95 V6 auto that it's time to change the trans fluid. Then the clunks would go away.

The manual for the GT doesn't have the diff changed out until 60K.

I am using Royal Purple Syncromax in my '06 GT 5-spd and it seems to work well.

I'm been using synchromax since changing my clutch and it really makes the transmission run much, much cooler. My fluid was still read when I changed it, can't remember when that was now.

RP Synchromax.

Honestly havent noticed a big diference in the trans because I am wrestleing with my clutch problem, but it is certainly no worse.

Fluid was very dark brown coffee color with almost no red still visible. For the cost of the fluid change it is worth it to me to do it every 20k miles for the peace of mind. Probably overkill but who knows.

When I change the RP in 20K miles if it still looks good I might lengthen it to 30K miles.
